DJ Trainwreck
What motivated you to start DJing/presenting?
I stumbled upon trance music in the summer of 2001, I heard an overnight electronica radio show. something about the mix gave me the thought that I’d like to do this. I had learned a little bit on vinyl via my friend’s kit and moved over to digital when I picked up my first controller.
What styles do you play?
I started out playing trance and hard trance/house. It wasn’t until 2012 that I started experimenting with different genres of music, the trance was great for house parties, but my local bar scene wasn’t big on trance, but would take in a dj that knew 90s hip hop and R&B, so I was motivated to expand my horizons. Nowadays I’m a little more open format.
Do you mix or scratch or both? Or are you more of a presenter?
It would depend on the set and how I’m feeling. There’s a lot to improve on in that area. As such I mostly try to go with a smoother mix.
Do you play on just one of danceradiouk.com’s stations or both?
As I am currently new, I can see myself only on Dance UK. But when listening, I do frequent the red room 😉
Outside of danceradiouk.com, who are your favourite DJ’s, bands or music artists and how have they influenced your style (if they have)?
Three Drives, Ferry Corsten, Rene Ablaze, Markus Schulz rank high on my influences in trance. Duke Dumont, Block & Crown, Mark Knight, Deadmau5
What other interests do you have besides DJing/presenting on the radio?
I am a car enthusiast, love rebuilding older cars. I enjoy biking, skateboarding and learning to mix drinks.
Favourite things?
Music, action movies and family.
Sum yourself up in a sentence?
Music fanatic, loyal to a fault and always up for a good time.
