What motivated you to start DJing/presenting?

I was introduced to music at a very early stage and I was brought up listening to Disco and funk from the 70’s. This led to my love of Disco and then turned into House music as I got older. I used to record the radio on cassette when I was about 12 years old and pretend to be the DJ (strange I know). When I was 15 I got my first taste into DJing and my mum bought me my first set of decks, They were a belt drive set of Pro 150’s and a dodgy 2 channel mixer. I practiced religiously every night until I perfected the art of mixing. I gained a work experience placement in a record shop in Warrington called Hott Waxx Records, this then opened my eyes into club scene and this is where I grew to love the industry and influences started to take place. This is when I knew that this was something I wanted to pursue and it all took off from there.

What styles do you play?

My main genre is house, disco house and funky house. This stems from my love of Disco as a kid. I also like to play tech house now and again and I love reminiscing when playing a few old classic tracks too.

Do you mix or scratch or both? Or are you more of a presenter?

I mainly mix, I leave the scratching to the pro scratchers out there. I don’t mind interacting with the audience too so using the mic is good for me.

Do you play on just one of danceradiouk.com’s stations or both?

Just Dance UK for now but who knows what the future may hold?

Outside of danceradiouk.com, who are your favourite DJ’s, bands or music artists and how have they influenced your style (if they have)?

I have seen a lot of DJ’s over the years and I’m a big fan of Dave Lee (FKA Joey Negro), Dimitri From Paris, Graeme Park, Daft Punk, Rob Smooth, David Penn, The Shapeshifters to name a few however there has always been one DJ in particular that has had a huge influence on me, my style of music and DJing. He is a great DJ and friend by the name of Barry May. He ran Hott Waxx records for a long time and he was a resident DJ in a local club in Warrington called The World. His style of disco/funk/house was everything I adored about music and all this rolled into one was something I loved and still do to this day.

What other interests do you have besides DJing/presenting on the radio?

I’m a big sports fan – Football, Rugby League, Boxing, F1. You name it and I’ll probably watch it. I also love nothing more than spending time with my family, going to places and making memories.
